South Ammonoosuc Ravine – 3/27/2019

Wednesday, March 27, I skinned up the Cog Railway to Jacobs Ladder, (2700 to 4725 feet), where I dropped down 100 feet into North Ammonoosuc Ravine, then skinned up to 5000 feet. I traversed Ammonoosuc Ravine on skis, in a southbound direction, above the headwall of Central Ammonoosuc Ravine, then descended South Ammonoosuc Ravine, where 4 days after the snowstorm, there was still boot-deep powder hiding in the shade next to the trees, on the skiers-right. I skied out the floor of the ravine in late afternoon sunlight, followed the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail back to the Cog, and enjoyed a beautiful Westside sunset.
